This has been a long time project for me seeing as Im sitting on a 9600 baud connection to the net.

Let me say it was shear determination that saw me thru the download. OS 10.5.6

But after I boot up with the OSX DVD the machine just hangs.

So I did some research. Again on my slow net connection and some from a cyber cafe.

What I found was that I need to create a partition it has to be marked as Primary type should be af

Some info about my setup.

Dell XPS M1530

Intel 965 Chipset

Teac DVD Drive

2 GM Ram

Nvida DIsplay

OS on the laptop

Win7 / XP

I have done the download twice.

Ive setup the Bios to default values. And tried playing with all the switches.

Ive spent 10 days trying to read all the posts but couldnt find one single place which listed a guide for the XPS M1530 or how to deal with the problem Im facing.

The error msg i get is just after the IDE Driver is loaded. It detects the IDE Drive. It detects the right partition but it fails when it tries to write to it.

SAM Multimedia: Read or wrote failed, Sense_key = 0x03 ASC= 0x11, ASCQ= 0x05

HFS Mount Root Failed.

What I feel is happening is that the install isnt even seeing my hard disk.

Something to do with my IDE Controler.

Ive configure Win7 to load in SATA mode and XP to load in ATA just to debug the problem. (Yes I need to go into the bios and swap the settings.)

No matter what I try I cant get my hard disk to detect.

And its getting hard to keep booting from the rescue disk to make my Windows boot.

I have 3 Primary Partitions. One has win7 one has XP and the other is for OSX

The OSX partition was created in win7. Even tried creating a Fat32 partition from the Umbutu CD. That didnt work either.

Dont know what else to try.

Have the latest Bios A12 from Dell.
