VGM10000
I am trying to figure out if current fixes to get L/SL running on a current Nehalem i7 (such as the 920) would work on an i5 or next generation i7... I would presume not, although I cannot think of a specific issue with the motherboard or processor that the OS would see as different. I imagine that everything that has changed is within the components, but I would be a liar if I said I was well-informed about the new technologies in the P55 motherboards and intel processors. I guess this post is to just get an idea as to how far people have gone in trying to get this to work (how hard is it thus far to get a functioning hackintosh based on the new architecture?). I held back from making a C2Q setup to wait for these new chips, and I am impatient to order parts and start building! Still, I would hope that it would be relatively painless on my part, besides the expected kernel panics and wtf moments... So, hopefully with the collective knowledge of all you guys and gals out there, we can all (hopefully including myself) get some answers. Thanks. Kuan_Yi_HK
Hey, Have a look at this topic.. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=176155 Some P55 motherboards owners including myself have posted our progress in installing Leopard with our setup. Some people succeeded and have now a stable system some didn't. Well for myself I have 2-3 issues left to fix before I try with a Snow Leopard retail installation on my setup.
