BenjaminAB
I bought a $3,000 dual G5. It overheated and died after three years. Apple said $1,200 dollars to fix it. So now it is the most kick-a$$ door stop. So, forget paying Apple for overpriced hardware. I was thinking of going the EFI-X route but now I see that you can install OSX without hacking the kernel. Sweet. So I need some serious hardware suggestions. I want to go i7 because I want this machine to be a beast that will last. Planning to install windows 7 on one drive for gaming on my 46" HDTV and OSX on another for video and image editing. I'm lost. Please give me the heads up on the hardware that will provide me with the most seamless installation. I have a old G4 eMac here and my lady's vista machine to prep the thumb drives and such. I have an old case laying around but I plan to buy a nice new power supply for it. Otherwise I need all new hardware. I do have the SATA drive from my G5 I want to use for media storage down the line. Oh and I have the pioneer dual layer DVD burner form the G5. Is that still useable? Thanks everybody. Synaesthesia
The SATA hard drive and DVD writer are still usable yes. Look around on this forum - there are plenty of guides for awesome Core i7 setups. Check out the tutorials section Another useful resource is the OS X wiki http://wiki.osx86project.org/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/187579-burned-my-dual-g5-hackintosh-here-i-come/#findComment-1272859 Share on other sites
