Silverlink
Hello there insanelymac'ers! I am trying to install iDeneb 1.5.1 and i can't get past the "Select a Destination" screen. When i go to the disk utility screen there aren't any disk available. When i go to the System Profiler and select SATA devices (or something like that) It will say that there aren't any sata devices in my computer. I have an Acer Aspire 5520G AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-60 (1MB L2 cache, 2.0GHz); 4GB (2/2) DDR2 667 SDRAM; 250GB hard drive; Integrated Blu-Ray Combo / DVD Writer drive; 5-in-1 card reader; 15.4" WXGA (1280 x 800) TFT display, Acer® CrystalBrite Technology; NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M graphics; 802.11b/g WLAN. i Hope that you guys can help me with my little laptop Thnx in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/186774-osx86-installation/ Share on other sites
vilpostus
I beg you a pardon, but have you prepared a partition to install to via the Disk Utility? If you can't see any disks in the Disk Utility, that means the different distro is needed. The one that supports the on-board SATA/IDE controller (probably Nfoce or Jmicron). Silverlink
Hey thanks for the response. I first downloaded GParted to format the drive to fat32. I Also tryed to use NTFS but it still can't find anything. I Downloaded also a Kalaway Release and an Iatkos release they give me the same results. srs5694
Download CPU-Z, which is a Windows utility. It'll produce a report on your hardware, including the chipset(s) used for your hard disk controllers. Post the results. There might or might not be a suitable driver for your hardware. If not, you're out of luck, or at best you'll need to buy an add-on controller and attach one hard disk to it. You might also be able to improve matters by adjusting BIOS options related to the hard disk. In particular, look for anything marked "AHCI" and try changing its setting. This reportedly helps OS X locate hard drives in some cases. srs5694
Your output indicates that your system uses an nVidia nForce 560 chipset. This is the hardware that, among other things, controls your hard disks. I've got a system myself that uses an nVidia 615 chipset, IIRC, and it works OK; however, I've recently had an exchange here with somebody with an nVidia 560 chipset, and he was having problems finding something that would work. I recommend you start researching your chipset to see if there are OSx86 drivers for it, and if so, what distribution supports it directly or how you can add the drivers to your iDeneb.
