crybbio
I decided to flash my ASUS P5QC with the mod BIOS by Juzzi: I don't know what is the difference between "VISTA SLIC Included" bios and the other, so I can't decide which one I should use. My current configuration is dual boot XP and Vista. Thanks! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/186747-help-bios/ Share on other sites

srs5694
Why do you want to upgrade your BIOS? Unless you've got a very good reason to do so, I recommend against upgrading the BIOS. It's just too basic a component to go playing around with. If something goes wrong, you could conceivably end up with a completely useless motherboard. As to the specific BIOS you're talking about, I have no idea; I've never heard of it before. crybbio
I've tryed to install many times iDeneb (1.4, 1.5, 1.58) using different options: always the installation ends correctly, but always I have the same panic screen on boot (see the file). Someone told me to use the mod Bios, but I never did it because I was afraid to result in death PC. If someone can help me to find the right solution.... vilpostus
Trust me, the BIOS patch is the last thing to do... Unfortunately the link to the file doesn't work. So I can't see what is the problem you talking about. Let me guess... If it's "still waiting for root device": You need a different/additional SATA/ATA controller driver. e.g. http://my.ukrweb.info/en/node/73 or a distro containing it. Plus this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=88335 for ICH10 I don't how you drives are connected. You did managed to install so you can add the kexts after the installation complete. Though it may be needed to add a Vendor/Device IDs to one of the/both kexts. Another thing is ACHI modes in BIOS. The different settings uses the different drivers (so different drives may appear/work and vice verso). Also it may affect other OSes (e.g. not booting/working) If it's kernel panic: try a different kernel (use kernel name to boot it e.g. -v voodoo) If it's ACPI problem: use/don't use ACPI fixes e.g. x86 ACPI or APIC driver P.S. I have the same VGA card so suggest using CoreVidia or ATI init. VoodooHDA for build-in audio, kXAudioDriver for Creative card (in case you wanna use both ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/186747-help-bios/#findComment-1267971 Share on other sites
crybbio
Thanks for your help: I'll try to attach the file of my freezed screen. The problem seems to be connected to the hard disk (I don't understand what I see on the screen, this is only an impression), but I tried using ACHI on my Bios and not, different kernel, I always have the same result. I tried also disabling the Marvell controller in the bios (it's for using PATA devices), because I read Leopard don't support Ultra ATA devices, but I have the same screen I have 4 hard disk SATA and 1 optical drive connected to the IDE Controller Intel ICH10. In different disks I have XP, Vista and the HFS partition for Leopard. 1 hard disk (only storage) and 1 optical drive connected to the Marvell 61xx RAID Controller. vilpostus
I see... To my mind it's more memory mapping related. As I understand you have 3.3Gb RAM installed. OS X is try to boot with 4Gb RAM (which obviously ain't going to happen) instead of 3.3Gb. To solve this try booting with the maxmem=3072 or maxmem=3060 or maxmem=3328 flag (this will force OS X to use 3Gb-3.3Gb RAM instead of 4Gb). Also may try cpus=1, busratio=20 flags. I tried with "memory remapped" option in Bios (It was disabled before, because of 32bit OS installed, XP and Vista) and now on POST I can see all the 4GB Ram active: but still the same screen Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/186747-help-bios/#findComment-1269957 Share on other sites
