As such, the unhelpful answer to your question is "yes," and a more helpful answer depends on your hardware. You motherboard's (or plug-in SATA card's) SATA chipset is the single most important piece of information you can provide. Sometimes the motherboard model and/or BIOS settings related to the disk controller can be important, too.
