TehRob
I booted off the iDeneb DVD and started the installation process and it seemed to go well the first few times. Once I got to the "select a HD to install Mac" I figured I was in the clear since it recognized my HD properly without having to run Disk Utility. Once in the customization tab, I had to do some trial and error to see what would work and what wouldn't. The first run of customizations I chose didn't work at all. Namely, the VooDoo and Qoopz Kernels. What was/is nice, is that in the customize part, my ethernet, wireless, sound and touchpad all have drivers for it. This laptop has an ATI X1200 and the ATI driver on the DVD starts at X1300-X1500, so I'm wondering if that's a problem here. As I kept getting closer and closer to getting an install to work, it would be shattered by the gray screen with the circle and line through it and the continuous gray spinning wheel. Next attempt I chose the Step Kernel, Chameleon v2 and a few other misc. AMD patches. I came back and noticed it was on the same gray screen but this time, no error picture and the gray spinning wheel was gone...it just wouldn't boot. So I manually rebooted and to my surprise, the bootloader installed properly as my "Win 7", 'Mac" and 'Storage" drives were all listed. As it was booting, it said to press any key to change startup options. I hit a key, and I tried -v cpus=1, -v -x and -v -legacy and nothing worked, it put me to the same gray screen with the spinning gray wheel. Being that it's an AMD Turion 64, I'm wondering if there is something absolutely specific to this distro. All I can do is trial and error but if someone has knowledge about this processor and perhaps the appropriate fixes I need, it would help me out greatly. Stats are: AMD Turion 64 TL-58 2 GB DDR2 667 RAM 160GB HD partitioned for Windows 7, Mac and a "Storage" drive Realtek RTL8198 Ethernet Realtek 8187B WiFi ALC268 HDA ATI Radeon X1200 AMD M690V Chipset To reiterate, it seems as if everything technically installs but when it comes time to boot, I'm stuck at the gray screen. I did a -v and noticed I'm getting unknown SIGSEGV code 0. That's about the only error I see so far other than something about "blah blah has taken more than 5 seconds...." Any ideas? TehRob
Wow this is what happened last time I had a problem with a different distro, not one response. How much more information do I need to post to get at least someone to help out? I'm still trying with the iDeneb v1.5.1 10.5.7 and I get everything customized, it installs, then it just sits at the gray screen with the circular hourglass equivalent just spinning continuously. I selected Step Kernel this time, AMDPatch, AHCI/SSE2 patch, all the proper wifi, ethernet and audio drivers, minimal fixes and no matter what I do it just won't get past the gray screen. I reboot, goes to Chameleon Bootloader showing my Windows 7 and Mac, I press a key for startup options and have tried: -v cpus=1, -v -legacy, -v -x and nothing seems to work. Does anyone know anything specific for an AMD Turion 64 CPU and Radeon X1200 Vid Card to get this distro to work? I'll name my first born son after you if you can help. PS- I'm downloading iATKOS v7 10.5.7 to give that a shot on the same laptop but I have over an hour to go before it completes so I plan to continue to mess with iDeneb. TehRob
With NO help from anyone here (go figure), I was able to get the iATKOS v7 10.5.7 installed on the Toshiba Satellite. Got sound and WiFi from getting drivers from their respected sites and was able to apply the 10.5.7 > 10.5.8 update perfectly. So thanks for the lack of help, guess it made me drive myself to do it. And since I'm not a jerk-off, if anyone needs help getting it on their Satellite, I'd be happy to help. antonius602
So, do they have a driver for the Radeon x1200? Everywhere I read says that you are stuck with terrible resolution and widescreen is not available? Is this so? I have the exact same hardware as you, well nearly. I'd love to hear about how well the video driver worked, and whether you used an ATI driver or the "Laptop Display"? Thanks in advance, mate.
