agnellorozzo
i think i'll buy Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS4P or GA-EP45-DQ6 which is the better to get kalyway, iatkos or ideneb working 100%?(With the second board i have to install pci firewire card) If you want to recommend me another board please let me know! if i buy one of these boards what can i select during installation? thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/186291-new-motherboard-100-working-with-os-x/#findComment-1264760 Share on other sites
bonfilio
(I don't know of any cost-feasable DDR2 16GB motherboards. Also, SLI chipset boards have issues beyond 3GB.) Can't go wrong with any Gigabyte EP45 board! If you want an dual vid system for Windows, the UD3p supports Crossfire, and the newer 4870/90 cards can be made to work in OSx. Zaap
(With the second board i have to install pci firewire card) Eh, the DQ6? It has three onboard Firewire ports (choose a case with front FW ports) and a rear slot firewire bracket with two ports. One thing this board isn't short of is almost ANY type of I/O port! (onboard FW works great in OSX also). I highly recommend this board- mine is just stellar- never given me any problems, the overall build quality is (IMHO) better that most boards, and it's just as compatible as other more common boards. As for what distro to install on it- when I first got mine, I installed iDeneb. That worked great. But ever since I'm strictly retail install. (Currently 10.5.8). (I have Snow Leopard, but haven't yet attempted to install it.)
