Hi,

I am a total newbie - sorry if I did things the wrong way.

I downloaded the tiger-x86.tar.bz2 - it includes the tiger-x86-flat.img and some VMWare files. Using VMWare 5.5 I can start the bootup process but it hangs. Using the -v switch hints that it might be a processor problem.

I have an AMD XP 2600+ (only SSE). Is there any way yet to get MacOS X running on my CPU with tiger-x86.tar.bz2 ???

Is there another way? Perhaps download a new version of an MacOSX image ?

What I want: MacOSX running in VmWare under WindowsXP on my AMD Athlon XP 2600+

Is this possible at all ?

Cheers,

sb

hi sb. i have some bad news for you im afraid - SSE2 is an absolute minimum for osx86, so you wont be able to run it, even under vmware.

the only way to run mac os x on a pc which lacks at least SSE2 is to run it in QEMU. reportedly this is so slow as to make it utterly unusable.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news. if you're looking for hardware upgrades and would like to know what is compatible, check out the HCLs on our wiki (wiki.osx86project.org).

finally, tiger-x86.tar.bz is a vmware image of osx 10.4.1. things have changed significantly since those days, and new universal apps wont run on that version. i'd recommend 10.4.3 as a bare minimum.
