Install ideneb v1.6 on gigabyte p35-ds3p via ide!

Like most of us I had the ds3p board following pcwiz guide which worked great, until i wnated the new version of ilife and mobileme services, so i needed to upgrade.

 

here are the following steps that i took to get 10.5.8 working on my computer

first

 

bio:

 

i choose to use ide mode and it works if you set your bios to ide mode.

you can use ahci, just dont choose the sata/ide fix

turned my s3 to s1 to get sleep to work...sometimes it works, but shutdown and restart do!

 

i then used an external dvd via usb to install the dvd.

from there i opened disk utility and partitioned the disc to have 1 section via master boot record

then i hit the erase tab on the new partition

 

i then customized the options of what was to be installed:

 

main system - i left whatever was checked, checked.

vanilla kernel

bootloader

acpi fix

apple smbio 800mhz, choose your ram speed

iouusb

appleazzla audio, later you will need to use ktexthelper to install the alc889a which can be found through search

ahci sata/ide - optional, it makes my computer boot up faster and easier to install vista/xp/etc

intel prove for networking

netgear wg111 v3 as i have wireless as well

nv kush for my card - xfx7950gt 512mb

 

 

then i hit instal..

 

at first it seemed like 15 mins of "calcualting" time remaining and then it says 2 hours and jumps to a total of about 23 mins to instal..

 

you should reboot and start right up into welcome screen...

i then ran updates and downloaded the security update straight from the site and no problems.

 

i then use ktext to patch using the alc889a, i can show you a link if you like

 

if not, try selecting the most recent vanilla kernel and less options

gigabyte p35-ds3p

geforce xfx 7950 gt 512mb (fully supported!!)

raptor 10000k 74gig

4gig 800mhz gskill

onboard audio

3x750gig wd caviar

antec full case, 600watt antec powaaa supply

 

 

 

here is my problem. photoshop opens up lighting fast and seems to work fine. as soon as i try to transform, copy/paste/move anything of the sort, i get the spinning wheel of death and there's nothing i can do but hard restart my computer. i can do other normal tasks, just as copying layesr, saving files, etc etc. my write speeds to usb and disc are just fine. i uninstalled the master collection and tried the premium, same problem. any ideas??!?

 

my xbench disc score is 70 and my overall score is 170.

 

does anyone have any ideas?

 

 

is it possible it's jsut the ideneb disc? when i did hte kalaway version inever had this problem... please help!!
