Jadas
What DVD would you suggest for an AMD phenom II 810? I have read about successful builds with LawlessPPC, iatkos ideneb, iPC and maybe more but which one should I prefer for a fisrt time build? Which will work for the most part out-of-the-box? The rest of my system is : -Asrock A770DE+ (nb770,sb710) -Radeon 4650 -4GB Kingston -SATA HDD Thanks in advance, Jadas EDIT: Some observations and solution(?) here Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/185569-leopard-and-phenom-ii/ Share on other sites

vilpostus
Can't you use Google? I would recommend any distro that contains a speed step kernel or distro know to support AMD CPUs. Jadas
It seems that the cpu is not the main problem. Apparently there are no drivers for my graphics card(4650). Also, with iDeneb 1.5 I get "Still waiting for root device" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/185569-leopard-and-phenom-ii/#findComment-1262880 Share on other sites

Jadas
I managed to get past the "Still waiting for root device" (caused by sb710), using this patch from SenVa using these instructions from nicholasblock. The patch worked for both iDeneb 1.5.1 and iATKOS v7. Some interesting observations : - It is not possible to install the distro from USB, you must burn DVD(RW). - I had to use AHCI mode for the installer to detect the desired partition on the sata drive. (partitions on the pata not visible). - The installer stopped for about 40 minutes with the message "Validating package payload"(or something like this) - After the install the IDE partitions aren't visible neither in AHCI mode nor IDE mode. Only problem now is my RadeonHD 4650, which is propably not supported. Jadas
Have you tried ATI init? I have tried ATY_Init.kext, just before it loads the gui it fails. I edited the Info.plist with my card's id : 0x94981002. Here is what I get: Also tried to edit ATIRadeonX2000.kext which was installed with iDeneb with my card's id but I get a black screen with artifacts.
