squatdog
I recently obtained a copy of the JaS 10.4.6 install DVD and am very eager to install OSX and run it along side my windows, however - when i boot from the DVD i get (what seems to be) an error. the "no" symbol (red circle with a diagonal red line going through it - much like found on 'no smoking' signs) appears above the apple symbol (grey apple on light grey background) while booting the DVD. While the "no" symbol appears the little grey bars still roll around in a circle like the OS is doing something, however i can no longer hear my hard disk or DVD ROM reading or writing. I am pretty sure i have setup the partitioning correctly, and i have changed A LOT of settings in attempt to get this to finally boot, but with no luck. If anyone would be kind enough to point out what my problem is, or what is causing this problem, resolvable or not, it would be much appreciated I have run the deadmoo version on this PC previously (however that was on an entirely seperate disk drive, which is no longer functionable) Athlon 3500+ (Venice Core) A8N SLi NVidia GeForce 6600GT (PCIE) Pioneer DVR109 DVDRW Dan Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18518-odd-error-message-at-dvd-boot/ Share on other sites
bofors
It is called a Kernel Panic. Are you sure that JaS's 10.4.6 is patched for AMD? Otherwise, I would recommend that you use Myzar's 10.4.5. I also think you need to check the HCL's with respect to your chipset: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.5 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18518-odd-error-message-at-dvd-boot/#findComment-121152 Share on other sites
