Fresh install OSx86 10.6(Snow Leopard) on a HP dv3-2155mx

My hardware

Intel Core2 Duo Processor T6500

800MHz system bus, 2MB L2 cache and 2.1GHz processor speed per core.

4GB DDR2 memory

Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW (DVD+R DL) supports LightScribe direct-disc labels

500GB SATA hard drive (5400 rpm)

Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD up to 1759MB total available graphics memory

Altec Lansing speakers with SRS Premium Sound

Touch media controls and HP Mobile remote

13.3" high-definition(1366 x 768) widescreen display

Built-in webcam

5-in-1 media reader

Supports Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD Picture Card formats.

2 high-speed USB 2.0 ports

Built-in wireless LAN (802.11b/g)

Built-in 10/100Base-T Ethernet LAN

Here is what I want to do.

First idea is:

Install a Linux server(Slackware64 or Ubuntu(64bit)) as a host/base OS, install VMWare workstation and run three VMs:

1. Snow Leopard(for everyday computing).

2. Linux.

3. Windows 7(for games only)

Second config would be:

10.6 as the base, install VMWare fusion and run linux & Win7 VMs.

Third choice would be;

Install 10.6 and keep Linux on USB.

But first things first.

I am VERY confused about installing 10.6 to begin with.

I tried iPC and failed.

Downloading iATKOS_v7 as I write this and wondering if that is the right thing to do.

The more that I read up on this subject the the more confused I become.

Should I use Chameleon 2, Darwin, EFI, full retail, Vanilla Kernel or what?

How do I set this up so that when 10.7 comes out it can be upgraded as an official Apple Mac would.

Currently running Win7 RC build 7100.

It's pretty, everything works OOB, froze on me twice, I wouldn't do anything with it except for games.

I am going to to be traveling a lot.

This has to be my everything machine.

Business and pleasure.

So, what do you think?

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

your graphics card isn't supported in any version of osx . send it back and tell them you wanted the dv3t with the NVIDIA 105 gpu. Its your only hope to get osx on the laptop. your graphics card is the only thing that will prevent you from having a hackbook pro.

PS: i bought that laptop and returned it for an older dv3510 which has dedicated gpu, not integrated.

I have a similar laptop the and it looks like there is hope for our vid card it works DV3-2154CA http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=173338 haven't tried installing osx yet though on this laptop
