Hi all!

I am after some advice on getting my hackintosh setup using a Retail DVD of Leopard and the Chameleon software.

My current hackintosh has the following spec:

  • Intel (South Lake 3 G5) 915GV Motherboard
  • Intel® Pentium® 4 processor 519 with Hyper-Threading Technology
Operates at 3.06 GHz, 533 MHz FSB - Features MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, NX-Bit, C1E
  • 2GB 533 MHz (PC4200) DDR2 memory
  • NVIDIA GEFORCE 6200 256MB PCI Graphics Card
  • Realtek ALC860VU On Board Sound

It is currently up and running using the IPC OSX86 - UNIVERSAL 10.5.6 - PPF5 FINAL RELEASE DVD distro configured with the following options:

  • 9.4.0 STAGEXNU UNIVERSAL KERNEL
  • INTEL ICHX SATA DRIVERS (Chipset Drivers)
  • NVDARWEN256 (Video Driver)
  • APPLE AZALIA AUDIO (Audio Driver)
  • FIXES & PATCHES: CPUS=1 (ONE CORE FIX) & APPLE SMBIOS PATCH - (APPLESMBIOS TOH)

The hardware is a little old now (It's a Gateway GT3016b PC that was bought a good few years back) but setup using the options above, works really well.

I would like to be able to set it up again using the Retail Leopard Disk and Chameleon's software to allow me to update like a real mac.  I'd also like to look into installing Snow Leopard in this way in the future if it's possible.

So, my question is, is it possible for me to do this on my hardware?  My grasp of things at the moment tells me that by using the Chameleon software, it removes the need to use a custom Kernel (Like the 9.4.0 STAGEXNU UNIVERSAL KERNEL I am using at the moment, and use the retail installation.  It would also install my kext's for me for my video and audio but what about the chipset drivers?  Is that something that can be done?

Thankyou in advance to anyone who can give me a couple of pointers on this.  It will be very much apreciated!
