Jovu
I was wondering if the connection is the same on the early 2008 macbook pro keyboards as my 2007 one, this may seem silly but the lack of media control & expose keys in the ones before 2008 is really annoying me, I used them all the time on the apple keyboard I used with my hacintosh. Not sure if you're still looking for an answer but in case you are - No, they're different. If you want the functionality of the mid-2008s you'll need to order the 2008 case because it has the new keyboard processor on it. You'll want the 2008 keyboard as well so you can tell what's what Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/184857-macbook-pro-keyboard-replace-2007-with-early-2008/#findComment-1293390 Share on other sites
Jovu
Thanks for the reply, by the mid 2008 case, do you mean the unibody? Or do you mean logic board? Just to verify, this is what I have now: This is what I want (different keys such as itunes control, dashboard, expose & cmd keys) They're exactly the same size, so the case shouldn't be an issue, I was just wondering about the connector & how it would be recognized by the logic board. ludacrisvp
I can't say for certain but one would think that you could swap without much of an issue. Aren't the keyboards seen in the system as some type of a USB device anyways and the system would see that the keyboard connected is a 2008 mbp keyboard and have the proper mapping. SticMAC™
Quite right! Unfortunately here the keyboard is JUST that, the controller sits on the Mainboard so changing the Keys part will do nothing but a cosmetic improvement! The System Board will still see the keys as the were before the swap!
