d'Arnaxx
Hello all. I am not very knowledgeable with Macs, and the whole point of me installing it on my PC is to learn how to use one (command line is hard to learn via book only). I am A+ Certified and would like to, eventually, become an ACDT. My specs, per DXDiag are as follows; System Model: NFORCE 780i SLI BIOS: Default System BIOS Processor: Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT (2 Cards, SLI) Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce 8500 GT DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0421&SUBSYS_0480196E&REV_A1 Display Memory: 512.0 MB Description: Realtek HD Audio output I am using a Logitech G15 USB keyboard and Logitech G5 USB Mouse. When installing this to my ATA HDD, I removed the data cable from my SATA HDD to avoid accidental data corruption (and stupid mistakes on my part, I work at home and need that drive). I managed to get OSx86 installed using these install options; iPC Vanilla kernel eno nForceLAN Driver Azalius Audio nForceATA Driver nvinject nForce 512 MB Video Driver nvinject nForce Dual Card Video Driver (chose this because I have SLI) When I boot up using the ATA HDD, it starts to run and tells me I have to restart my system. Does anyone know of any issues with this sort of setup? Am I missing drivers? I read somewhere to try only one video card, only one CPU, and one user could not boot with nVidia GeForce 8500 GT cards at all, had to use onboard video (which the 780i lacks). I tried to use only one CPU, tried one video card, neither helped. I also tried the following from a forum thread I read; Bootup using F8 to terminal -v -s /sbin/mount -uw cd /system/library/extensions rm -rf nvdaresman.kext This also did nothing to help. My apologies if I sound like a 'noob', but in this case, I really am. I did do some forum searching, but it being a custom system, none are exactly like mine it seems and OSx86 isn't exactly easy to install. I appreciate any help you can give me, I really do want to learn how to utilize Mac on my system... d'Arnaxx
Partly a bump for help, partly an update. I removed my 2nd card and disabled 3 of the 4 CPU cores in the BIOS. Also, I failed to list that i have 4GB RAM in this system. I did a -v bootup and am hanging at AppleNForceATA: Configuring Pointers (this is not exactly what it was, but all I could get). After a few seconds it gave me a black screen. I'm under the assumption that my video cards are the issue... As a sidenote, I did get the iPC DVD to run the Live part once, before I tried to install it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I want to learn Mac, not run it full out yet, and cannot modify my system to suit this OS. I work at home and can't afford downtime.
