ownsu Posted September 6, 2009 Share Posted September 6, 2009 Hi all, I'm having a little problem with my mackintosh right now. it is freshly installed on a dell inspiron 530. It crashed when I was browsing on youtube or flash based web-page on firefox. When it crash, it does NOT give me a kernal panic report. Thus, I dont know either its a kext or plugin or firefox is not working. It just give me the message I should hold my power button to restart. I update quicktime and itune also install divx, flip4mac and perian plugins for video. I also have vuze installed. but I left it on for 3 hour and it did not crash. So i'm not sure if those are what messing me up. The specs are: intel Pentium Conroe Dual Core Processor E5200(2.5GHz,800FSB) with 2MB cache With Nvida video card 512 Creative sound blast 5.1 usb card D-link USB wireless stick using ralink If you have any idea how to fix this. The best practice there would be to install the same version kernel as your current system e.g. 9.7.0 for 10.5.7, 9.8.0 for 10.5.8 etc. Or it may be SSE2 emulation enabled during install.
