Hey everyone,

Just wanted to first off say thanks for everyone who helps newbs like me around here with questions that are asked every day, you've all been a huge help. I was previously running 10.4.1 and had it going with absolutely 0 problems. I felt it was time to upgrade though so I got the goatsecx 10.4.6 image and burned it to DVD and it works fine. I wiped the partition 10.4.1 was on in windows and am trying to start the process over again. Is the process different for 10.4.6 or should my old method still work? I'm having trouble remembering exactly what I did but I know it didn't involve Linux. On my computer I have VMWare, Acronis disk selector and partition magic but can't for the life of me remember what I'm supposed to do and I'm having trouble with some of teh guides. I tried installing earlier today and the install ran through fine and when I tried to boot back in afte rinstall I got a nasty Kernel error so I'm starting back at square 1... anyone have a relatively easy way to do this with this image and without linux?

hey... i actually got it working just now. i just booted into osx 10.4.6 and its up and running. i'm still trying to get it to recognize my m-audio mobile pre usb soundcard. that's why i wanted the mac... for the ability to use garageband. any ideas?

thanks again for the response

new problem... an update window popped up and i installed the 3 updates mac said were available.. ipod updater, i believe quicktime and 1 other. after install and restart, it runs through a lot of white text and says many things fail.. then it loads into OSX sort of but the screen is magnified. i can see the the program icons at the bottom and thats it. nothing else shows up on the screen

Dude, you are running a seriously hacked version of OS X. Do not update it, just want until a better version comes out and completely reinstall. My advice is to start over. Your OS X installation is hosed.

Now with respect to your sound-card, you should search the forum to find posts and people to help with that specifically.
