Hi all,

Im sure you are having heaps of fun with the why wont my eeepc work threads so i thought id add another. Anyway ive actually managed to get ideneb to install and boot but each time i try a different method one thing doesnt work.

My other issue is that the guides seem to be throwing kexts at the install which may be unnessicary (or i might be wrong) but id jsut prefer to get a solid idea of what im doing.

Using this guide when i installed the GMA950 kexts the screen went all garbled upon booting. Also things like how in the guide it says the dsdt file removes the need for AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext while the guide gets you to install it anyway.

using this guide with the dsdt from the other guide i dont have functioning fn keys

Im asuming that the dsdt table from the enik guide is correct.

Now begins my questions:

What installer options would i want to select from the ideneb installer?

the first guide lists a few and the second lists less so i am asuming

  • iDeneb Essential System
  • Chipset / ICHx Fixed
  • Fix / AppleSMBIOS / AppleSMBIOS 800
  • Fix / FireWire Remove
  • Video / Intel / IntelGMA950

are what i want

And as for kexts which do i need to install?

The first guide has a few kexts and the second guide has heaps more. I got nfi as to which i should use

I have not tried this guide here yet

If there are no replies ill just go with the second guide fully this time.

Thanks

You aren't alone in this.

I also recently acquired iDeneb v1.5 and the 1.5.1 patch and made myself an installation DVD. I followed the first couple of guides you mentioned up through the kext install phase. This version of iDeneb seems to mostly work out of the box on an Eee PC 1000H-- until you reboot.

I have the modified 2102 Bios and DSDT files and so replaced the default dsdt.aml that was already on my main drive after the initial installation. Perhaps that messed up the installation or it could be that the kexts I am using (10.5.7 friendly) are somehow different from what iDeneb installed for me.

The only thing I can see that I did and you didn't do was to check the "Notebooks>Eee PC" box before the installation began. I am assuming that is why I found a dsdt.aml already preloaded.

I'm out of ideas at the moment. I'm running iDeneb 1.4 (10.5.6) on another hard drive for now and it's working perfectly but I'd love to get the 1.5.1 installation working.

Have you found anything new?
