Installing on a dedicated (Nforce :( ) ATA HDD

Hiya,

I'm using the HotIso 10.4.6 release here, but have got some nasty problems

Anyway, the disk in question is a Seagate 80gb IDE variation, checks out perfectly in SMART.

However, whatever I try & do I get an Input/ Output error when attempting to do anything with the drive.

Anyone with any ideas whatosever on what this actually is being caused by?

Mobo is a MSI-K8N Sli Platinum (In the HCL as IDE working).

 

Only thing I can think of is that the drive is on an older IDE cable (40 pin as opposed to 80). Its the only device on its channel, and has been set to master, as the PC doesn't recognise it otherwise.

On the other channel is the DVD drive I'm installing from, but AFAIK this isn't really relavant
