stepfresh
Hi Guys, I'm having trouble installing OSx86 on my SZ laptop.. and know of others who have installed on the same system but can;t seem to manage it myself. I've partitioned my hdd as instructed from multiple tutorials.. and when i boot up with a Myz iso dvd it goes to the grey apple loading screen just fine. However, after it loads the screen flickers blue and then goes to an odd greyscale screen. I tried plugging in an external monitor and it shows a blank blue screen. If i then move the cursor to the right with the laptop trackpad, the mouse appears! If i mouse back to the left, click, and drag back to the right i can sometimes grab the legals window.. however.. i need to access the Disk Utilities and cant. Any way of installing graphics drivers so my screen works for installation.. or setting my monitors to 'Mirror' mode? I've tried pressing Fn + F7 also, to no effect. Thanks for any help! ZennouRyuu
This sounds exactly like the issue I am having on the same laptop. I have talked to others who use this system with OSx86 but your the first i have heard this from (other than me) I am using the JaS 10.4.6 installer CD which i am beginning to suspect as the culprit. What install method did you use? The good (sorta) news is that switching to speed mode and thereby using the nVidia graphics accelerator will allow you to get it going. But the card is not really supported by OSX and because of this you wont be able to use all of the nifty graphics features that I keep hearing about (Quartz :-( ) I tried the macvidia install but only managed to make things worse requiring a reinstall.............. Ill let you know if i make any progress. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18322-sony-sz-installation-issues/#findComment-119944 Share on other sites
stepfresh
Good to know i'm not alone! I'm using the Myz dvd iso. It's funny you mention using 'speed' mode.. i only just remembered that using that option utilises a different graphics adapter, and thought it might be worth a try. Unfortunate that macvidia didn't work as hoped. I'll try it too after the weekend and we can compare results.
