jellymonster
Hi I have mac os x 10.5.3 installed on a hdd. I have a 2nd hdd that I want to clone it to as I am going to try and install snow leopard but don't want to be left buggard if I mess it up. So my plan is to close the disk and remove that disk, so if I mess it up, i can just run from that hdd instead. I know you can use stuff like carboncopy and the restore function in disk utility. But then you ave to reinstall the boot loader which I do not know how to do. I have also heard that Acronis True Image can do this perfectly but that is windows right? if not, can someone explain exactly how to reinstall the boot loader. I have kalyway 10.5.2 disk install and do not want to use any other as I don't want to d/l them. Please help :S JM Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/183151-cloning-disk-to-a-second-disk/ Share on other sites
Beerkex'd
Download Chameleon 2.0 RC2, run the installer and point it to your cloned installation. You can also boot with your Kalyway DVD, click customize, untick everything else and only select a bootloader. But why...don't you just install Snow on the empty hard drive instead...?! That's what I would want to do, install clean install Snow Leopard. But all the guides that I've been reading say you need an already installed OS :S. Unless someone can correct me? and thanks for chameleon 2.0 RC2, i've heard it's better anyways Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/183151-cloning-disk-to-a-second-disk/#findComment-1246240 Share on other sites
Beerkex'd
You already have an OS installed. You are misreading the guides. You don't have to have an OS installed on the same drive that you're installing 10.6 on.
