PC won't start

Can anybody help me please?

I have installed Jas1046installdvd3326550 on my PC, but it won't start.

 

My hardware is:-

GA-K8NMF-9 Mobo

Chipset:- nForce 4

Athlon 64 Bit 3200+ (Venice) SSE3

Graphics:- Nvidia GeForce 6500 PCI-Express

HDD :- Excelstor 30GB

1024 Dual Memory

 

with the -v switch I get this error message

Still waiting for root device

 

What have I done wrong?

Is my hardware incompatible?

 

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If this has been answered elsware, could you point me in the right direction?
