Never Say Never
I am currently using this motherboard and am using 4GB DDR2 800, but according to the Gigabyte website here, it supports up to DDR2 1066 with overclocking. I know it's a popular motherboard around here so I'm wondering if anybody has tried putting DDR2 1066 in this board and if you were able to get it to work properly. If anybody has done this, how do you get it to work? As far as I can see in the BIOS you can't directly set the speed of the RAM, you can only select one of a few multipliers based on the FSB. hackintastic
Yes you can change the memory multiplier but you can change also your fsb this will result in a faster running cpu and faster running memory. fsb* cpu multiplier =cpu speed fsb* memory multiplier = memory speed I do overclockig in windows, some programs I use: Prime95 = testing if it is stable Hwmonitor pro trial= nice temperature monitoring program 3dmark = nice benchmark program cpu-z = program with lots of info abouth your hardware, you can see your current fsb, multiplier, cpu speed, memory speed ( dram frequency * 2) Note that when you are overclocking your temps are higher than normal, use a program like Hwmonitor and search for your maximum cpu temperature. Sory for my {censored} english... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/182956-ga-g31m-es2l-ddr2-1066/#findComment-1243682 Share on other sites
Never Say Never
Ok, that confirms what I was thinking...so there is no way to do this without OC'ing the entire system?
