Hi has anyone had success in booting the Ideneb 10.5.7 DVD from a XFX 780i mobo with SATA harddrive ?

I get this error when booting the ideneb DVD "Still waiting for root device"

Iatkos v7 DVD boots fine and installs OSX but, the PS/2 keyboard drivers are lacking.

thanks for any help you can give.

Please search the forum :S

This issue is common hardware problems. You'll probably better use another distro (if you're 'a noob').

Otherwise try using a usb keyboard for install, they cost maybe 10$ in the store... After the install you can add the ps2 modules you found using search

Thank you for your response.

I did search the forums and no luck.

I have tried booting the Ideneb 10.5.7 dvd with.

-v -x -f cpus=1 platform=ACPI|86PC

-f -v -legacy cpus=1

-x -v platform=x86PC

I really dont want to buy ps/2 to USB converter.

Check out my Series 7 nForce chipset thread...... ;)

I bet you didn't search very well, cause I know at least 20 threads about still waiting for boot device...

The issue is that your SATA controller driver kext is not in the DVD you downloaded (or doesn't exist) (the still waiting for root device issue). To fix this, you need to download a DVD that has the right kext. Search the forum for your chipset (nForce 780), you'll find threads about how to fix it.

for example:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92144

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=127212

and so on.

As for the ps2: I really advise to get a USB keyboard. There are no intel macs with a PS2 port, and as such you are very much dependant on how willingly your distribution guy incorporated the PS2 driver. I know this is a cost, but building a hackintosh isn't just about 'throwing in a DVD and hoping it will work'.

Check out my Series 7 nForce chipset thread......

Thanx Tienneke and verdant.

Ya I have started reading your thread verdant and adjusted my bios as stated.

I was hoping that someone on the forums had the exact same setup and could give me hints.

A long shot, but never hurts to ask.

Tienneke I have searched, Im not lazy and be patient whith n00bs like me. I have installed OSX in the past but those distros are very old now.

Thanx Tienneke and verdant.

I'm sorry, I don't usually act like that :s but the correct place to ask your question would have been the big nforce thread. It's fairly active, so you would have been helped there, and probably better than here..

I hope your system will boot properly with the info in the nforce 7 thread :(

once again, sorry for my rant :$

@ robrob22

As Tieneke has pointed out, the best combo is USB keyboard and USB mouse.....mixed PS/2 and USB combos are not recommended......PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse combos rely upon the correct drivers being present in the distro Extensions.mkext and hence being loaded at boot up....

Initially install without video, audio and network drivers........see my blog install guides.....
