Installed flawlessly with Marklar-Tiger.iso patched with test3 patch.

Config

System: Sony Vaio VGN-T350p

Intel Pentium M 753 @ 1.2ghz

512 RAM pc 2700 @ 333mhz

Intel 855GME Graphics Chipset (64mb)

SoundMAX digital audio (0x24c58086)

Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG (wifi)

Intel Pro/100 VE (eth)

What works:

Ethernet

USB

Firewire

Video @1280x768x32 - (no coreimage, quartz extreme works...)

Rosetta Supported - Emulates quite well

Dual Booting with Windows XP (biggest convenience of the test3 patch)

Busted:

Audio: The system is an Intel 855GME chipset. Audio works, but unfortunately it is ACPI-controlled, therefore in order to adjust the volume, I need to find a way to get my volume controls working in os x.

Time: Windows and OSX fight for who's right when it comes to time. Change the clock in osxx86 and windows is off. Vice versa. Nothing big.

Tapping: I cannot tap. Not a serious loss. I hate it anyway.

Adjusting Brightness - Can't do it. Need function keys to do this and they don't seem to work. No loss. Brightness always seems to be at the perfect level.

==============================================

The system boots up in 10-15 seconds, and performs wonderfully. Wireless and properly functioning audio would, without a doubt, make osx x86 the primary os on this machine.

I love input, and wish more people frequented this forum. If you have any questions, please pm me.

I caved in and bought a $40 belking usb wifi adapter 802.11g at wally world. Easily got it working by installing the RT2500 drivers for os x from radlink's website. Very easy to do. The dongle is ugly, compared to the rest of this 10" laptop, but it is giving me wireless in osx, which leaves me satisfied, that's for sure.

Joelogic, your method is the only one that has worked for me.

I deleted all of the intel files, rebooted. Then I copied the AppleIntelIntegrated.kext, file to my extensions directory, and edited the file so that it recognized my device (0x35828086). I deleted my Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext and rebooted the machine. Then I copied ONLY the AppleIntel830 files from the darwin iso (do not copy the 915's), chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/* and chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/*, and rebooted. I now finally have both a res of 1280x768x32 AND Quartz Extreme. Thank you. Core image doesn't really work on my friends ibook g4 with an ati 9200, so I'm not really expecting it to work with my integrated intel chipset, but this is good news for me.

EDIT:

Thank you for contacting Intel® Technical Support.

The Intel® 82855GM graphics controller can dynamically allocate from 11MB to 64MB of the system's memory for graphics processing. For optimum performance we recommend there to be a minimum of 256MB of system memory and the latest drivers need to be installed. In other words, the graphics controller will only use up to 64MB of the system memory when needed. As far as adding video memory, there is no option to do so and the allocation process is fully automatic and cannot be adjusted.

There must be some way to make OS X allocate this memory prior to loading the login information. If there were a way to do this then I wouldn't need to boot into windows first. Any ideas?

Hi, MPeters - well I followed your guide but still no QE for me. I asked similar question to Intel, ended up receiving similar answer right before I saw your new post.

I am yet to start generic installation - by this weekend I will. Will keep you posted.

Cheers.

So I was wrong about the needed to boot into windows thing. There must be some way to make OS X allocate this memory prior to loading the login information.  If there were a way to do this then I wouldn't need to boot into windows first.  Any ideas?

can you set the amount of memory used in the BIOS? do you have the 855GM or GME? i have the 855GM, and it seems like the driver for windows dynamically allocates the RAM. many people have suggested first boot into windows and then reboot, and the card will have more RAM allocated to it.

the thing is, i'm not even worried about getting QE going. i can't get 1280x768 widescreen resolution working, and the default 8MB of ram should be adequate for that. basically i deleted all the AppleIntel* files from the extensions folder, edited the AppleIntelintegrated file, chmod/chowned the files, and then deleted the mext and kext files in "library". in doing so, i gain the 800x600 and 640x480 resolutions in the Display properties.

Tapping: I cannot tap.  Not a serious loss. I hate it anyway.

mate i figured this one out...just incase anybody's curious...

go into system preferences > keyboard and mouse, then look for trackpad gestures and tick clicking and/or dragging if you want i guess

i like my track pad tapping, because the track pad on my laptop is really sensitive and it works really easilly.

cheers.

This option isn't available on my laptop. For some reason acpi isn't fully supported.

QUESTION: IS LCD expansion enabled in the bios? OS X will not allow the 1280x768 resolution unless this option is enabled. I have the 855gme chipset, so I must first boot into windows, so that the memory is allocated and then reboot into osx for QE support. (well... to get into os x at all, as without the proper amount of allocated memory, os x boots garbled and i have to peform a hard reboot.
