hello, i keep trying to install osx86 with ideneb 1.6 lite, and it will only boot in safe mode.

I can get ipc 10.5.6 to install and boot fine but when i try to upgrade to 10.5.8 or install from this ideneb cd i end up only able to boot in safe mode.

my motherboard is MSI G31M3 and i have an nvidia 7950 gt

i've tried ALL the kernels and i've used the EXACT same options that work on the ipc 10.5.6 cd....i'm really stumped here.

any help would be great. like i said, it boots with safe mode but if i try to boot normally it goes to a black screen

ok, i was able to get it to boot finally without being in safe mode.

I reinstalled with no options but the kernel ( voodoo)

I guess some of the options which i needed for 10.5.6 werent' needed to boot 10.5.8

i also repartitioned the drive as guid, i'm not sure if this made a difference. Right now i do not have any sound and i have vesa video but i'm hoping to fix that with one of the nvidia options.

my question now is, which is better, nvdarwin or nvinjext? I've searched and i can't find a definitive answer

edit:

now i've tried all the nvidia options and they all cause the black screen....what's that about?

it works in 10.5.6 but not in 10.5.8

i'm totally confused

ok, what i finally ended up doing was downloading the ideneb updates for 10.5.7 and 10.5.8

i ran the first one, and could only boot with anv kernel, with the second one, i couldn/t boot with any kernel but after booting with voodoo and the -f -v options i'm back online with 10.5.8

thought i'd post to to let anyone else know who has my motherboard

one more thing, none of the kernels in the ideneb update would work for my system.

I was able to boot with voodoo 9.5 but i couldn't mount dmg images even with the proper seatbealt.kext.

i ended up solving this by downloading the kernel from http://code.google.com/p/xnu-dev/ (xnu-dev)

this works for me, and now i have 10.5.8 with that kernel.

Just thought i'd post it incase others have my issues
