rstcs1
Hello, I Have a Dell Latitude D620 notebook with Intel Core Duo processor and Intel 945GM Express Chipset Graphics. I installed Windows XP Professiional in the first partition, then OS X 10.4.6 in a second partition following instructions on this site. Everything went fine during the instalation of OS X. I used chain0 to select the OS X partition at boot. However when I boot OS X I get the following error message: Started CPU 01 panic(cpu 1 caller 0x00371755): ACPI: AcpiOsFree Debugger called: <panic> -- followed by a whole bunch of hexidecimal addresses -- I read one post about needing to plug in an external monitor on the first boot, and I tried that. However I never saw anything on the external monitor and I received the same error. *****UPDATE***** I found that if I specify Platform=X86PC in the boot options, I am able to get past the Kernal Panic. It now appears to boot up into OS X, However I can't read anything on the screen. The screen shows diagonal Poligons from the top left of the screen to the bottom right of the screen. There is also a smaller window open in the middle of the screen that also has these same diagonal polygons, except that at the bottom of the center window, there is a white rectangle. I am guessing that my Intel 945GM Express Chipset Graphics are not being handled properly. Does anyone else have any experience with this chipset? Is there any way to get around the problem? Thanks!!!!! ***** End of UPDATE ***** Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks! Jason Dax
Disabling Core Duo support in the D620 bios will do the trick. Try it and report back! rstcs1
Jason, Thanks for the post. I made the BIOS change you suggested and it DID resolve the panic error I was originally getting so I no longer have to specify "Platform=X86PC" at boot. However I still get the strange video display that I described in my first post under the ***** UPDATE ***** section. Do you have any ideas about that problem? Thanks! btw - I have attached a picture of the screen when OS X boots so you can see exactly what it looks like. kevkid
In the extra options in the install selecting you need to turn of the Intel GMA 900 Video Drivers. I assume you didn't customize the installation. You only need the the OS X 10.4.6 Patch, Intel SSE2, SSE3, and the VIA Sata Support Works great on my D620! Still need help getting the ethernet and sound to work though! Jason, Thanks for the post. rstcs1
Thanks - that worked for me too! The laptop has Intel Graphics Media Accelorator 950, I guess the 900 isn't compatible. My Ethernet, Sound, Wireless Network, and resume from Hybernation are still not working properly. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks!
