Vincent Zwanenburg
Well, after some hassle finally I've got OS X 10.4.6 to run in a decent way. Have upgraded my Radeon 9800Pro firmware to 9800XT to get Omni's driver to run, so now I finally have a decent screen resolution. One problem remains though. My computer is equiped with the Realtek AC97 ALC850 sound chip on it's motherboard (Asus pvp800-e deluxe). After installing OS X I immideately installed the enhanced AC97 driver listed in the install guide. In System Preferences -> Sound I can select two output devices: Line Out on AC97 Audio PCM (PCM) and SPDIF Out on AC97 Audio PCM (SPDIF). Of course, I selected the Line Out. Now, in Audio MIDI Setup I can change my speakers settings. I've let them be though, affraid of doing something wrong. Without altering these settings I still should have been able to hear at least the left channels sound. Well that's where it goes wrong: I don't hear a thing. Both iTunes and Quicktime are awfully silent. In System profiler: software, extentions, this is shown: AppleAC97Audio: Version: 1.0.0 Last Modified: 11/25/05 8:33 AM Get Info String: 1.0.0, Copyright Apple Computer, Inc. 2004 Location: /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext kext Version: 1.0.0 Load Address: 0x23df1000 Valid: Yes Authentic: Yes Dependencies: Incomplete Dependency Errors: com.apple.iokit.IOAudioFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found Integrity: Kext has no receipt AppleAC97AudioIntelICH: Version: 1.0.0 Last Modified: 11/25/05 8:33 AM Get Info String: 1.0.0, Copyright Apple Computer, Inc. 2004 Location: /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext kext Version: 1.0.0 Load Address: 0x23ddd000 Valid: Yes Authentic: Yes Dependencies: Incomplete Dependency Errors: com.apple.driver.AppleAC97Audio: No valid version of this dependency can be found com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found Integrity: Kext has no receipt Does this ring a bell to anyone?
