makisupa
I have GA-EP35-DS3L. I managed to install SL using some of the Guides floating around here (I think it took me 5 or 6 DSDT.aml's). I am using DSDT.aml for graphics, ethernet, and sound (was getting pops until i changed my smbios to match a MacPro -- seems to work although I'll be using an external USB DAC soon). Here is my issue....let's see if someone can replicate it: I have an NVIDIA 8800GT with 512MB of RAM and a Dell 23" monitor with 2048x1152 resolution. My Leopard install is using an EFI string in the com.apple.boot.plist. SL is using the DSDT.aml method (as stated before). I SWEAR that text in Leopard is MUCH crisper...its really quite noticeable. has anyone seen this? My ideas: 1. When creating the DSDT.aml something was set wrong with the video card (dual DVI vs. Dual DVI plus TV?) Or this is something with the DSDT.aml method (doubtful...nothing functionally different is happening). I should be able to test this by using the EFI string in the plist after creating a new, graphics free, DSDT.aml. 2. This is something with the way SL handles fonts? I've checked all the options with LCD smoothing/etc...I see nothing that makes any difference. Any other ideas out there? I swear I'm not crazy....its really quite pronounced... makisupa
I attempted to test this by using an EFI string in my com.apple.boot.plist. Fonts are once again HORRIBLE. They are fuzzy as could be. Boot back into leopard using the same string and they're crisp like you'd expect. So...this has nothing to do with the method if injection. It is evidently dependent on Snow and a 8800GT 512MB. Is there no one else out there that is seeing this? --Mak Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/181972-text-fuzziness/#findComment-1238649 Share on other sites

CURaven
"defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 2" I used this and it worked excellently. But I have no idea what it means. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/181972-text-fuzziness/#findComment-1751175 Share on other sites
