I installed 10.4.5 hacked (Darwin/x86 v5.0.132) patch on this laptop. The wireless and wire would work right after the install and as soon as I reboots the laptop, they no longer work. I am gettiing the following error msg:

Found non-5701 with serial eeprom or unbuffered flash

init/sanity check of eeprom failed

get adaptor information failed,giving up

I also want to know could I increase the resolution beyond 1024x 768

Hey, I have the exact same setup and I've managed to get wireless working flawlessly after some tinkering around. Unfortunately, I don't have what I did at the time ready for me to cite, but I can get back to you soon enough. At any rate, everything you need to get it working can be found in these forums if you search. I believe the AirPort plist needed to be edited with the proper device number, along with the "on" (1) preference edited into it.

As for the screen, chances are you have an XGA screen that is limited to the resolution you stages. However, you may have a WXGA which can go a tad higher. For full access to your laptop's screen resolutions in OS X, check out Omni's low-level ATI driver.

Had the same problem... You can get it to work from the commandline by playing around with the 'airport' commandline program buried somewhere deep in the system (airport -a or sth).

But to have it show up in the GUI you'll need to do to do the en0 -> en1 trick in one of the plists, do a search. AFter that, open the network preferences and it should say something about 'new airport card detected'.
