Hello,

I have been reading a lot lately and always hate to post when I feel like a question has already been answered but I can't seem to find a solution with my current searches.

Anyways, I am attempting to follow the well written tutorial located at http://www.infinitemac.com/f19/guide-gigab...tutorial-t3187/ but I am having a problem right off the bat. I boot from the Boot132 cd, pop in the retail (backup) leopard dvd and then the machine reboots.

The machine is:

G31M-ES2L Motherboard

Intel Pentium D Chip (also tried P4 630)

2GB DDR2 800MHz Memory

IDE Hard Drive & DVD Drive on same cable (hdd is master, dvd is slave)

nVidia Quadro FX Graphics (PCI Express)

Tried -v flag without luck,

I have done a lot of reading, but there is a great chance my mind is garbled from all the different places I have been getting my info.

Here is a video of my problem:

I greatly appreciate your time and effort in helping... if you are willing :(

You seem to do everything right. The only thing I can think of is that either your disk isn't burnt correctly, but the problem may actually be that you are usin an ide-dvd drive. Those aren't as well supported by OSX as their s-ata counterparts. Can you borrow a s-ata or USB DVD-drive to verify?

Finally had some more time to play with this.

I got a retail 10.5.1 DVD from a friend... which gets me to a screen that displays the apple logo but thats it. I let it sit for over an hour and it never got any further. I updated the BIOS, swapped RAM, used SATA DVD Drive and still no dice. Are there BIOS settings I need to adjust? It has to be something silly.

I am using a different mobo... but having the exact same issues... I created the following thread... but have no responses...

Welp if I figure it out I will definitely let ya know ;) We will get to the bottom of it.

I will do the same... I figure if we both have different boards than we must be doing something silly... I have done a lot of Bios Fine Tuning... So I am at a loss... I will keep searching tho... :P

I am just currious but are you using a blank hard drive with no partitions or any data? I am not...

At first the drive had data on it, I figured that might be an issue so I FDISK'd the drive and tried again. No dice. About to start tinkering now

So for kicks and giggles I tried a Kalyway Leopard 10.5.1 DVD and I was actually able to get into the Install... I partitioned the drive and began the process... However... Midway through the install it just cut out and gave me boot.plist error...

Brad,

I needed to use a different CPU. P4 630 and Pentium D 940 wouldn't work, but a Core 2 Duo E7400 worked great. I feel dumb because I should have tried different CPU way before this. I am about to continue with install and I will report back if any more issues occur.

Glad to here you are up and running... I can't use another cpu... Atom 330 onboard... But from the looks of all the others with this setup, they are up and running...
