MikeyC
Hi everyone, I have used this great forum to find a working distribution, I managed to install iDeneb 1.4 with apparently all the correct kexts as it in stalled and loads into OSX every time. It then proceeds to work for a while(a few minutes usually, but has once worked for over an hour) and then it seems that under no particular pattern it will just freeze and I have to shut down and restart. I have tried using -x (I think) and loaded the Mac equivalent of safe mode and that worked absolutely fine, so I assume that in fact there is a problem with one of the Kexts. I am new to OSX and thi whole OSx86 scene so I have no idea where to even start. How can I tell if the drivers I have installed are correct, and if they aren't how do I replace them with correct drivers? The wireless driver doesn't seem to work when I have security enabled, but with security disabled I can browse the internet without problems. If anyone could help me work out what the problem is byt telling me where to look and what to look for I would really appreciate it! Here is what I have: Acer Aspire 5102WLMi Laptop CPU: AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-50 1.6GHz - Displays as "1.6GHz Intel Core Duo" under 'about this Mac' Chipset: Northbridge - ATI Xpress 200 (RS480) rev. 10 Southbridge - ATI SB400 rev. 80 RAM: 4Gb DDR2 400MHz - All is recognised under 'about this Mac' HDD: 120Gb Dual booting with Windows 7 - Windows 7 still works fine. Graphics: ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 (256Mb RAM assigned) - Works but only at 1024x768 Wireless: Atheros AR5BMB5 - Works with no security Sound: Realtek - Works but shows 'no audio device' in system profiler. I can't think of anything else that might be useful, let me know if more info is needed though! Thanks in advance! One more thing, is it safe to do a software update? I've done a scan and there are a few updates for AirPort, along with an update to 10.5.8. Should I do them? Should I run all updates? Are there any that I should always avoid? I have just tried sleep, and that doesn't work either. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/181371-ideneb-v14-1056-on-acer-aspire-5102/ Share on other sites
