Nagetier
Hey guys, got a problem with Chameleon Boot Loader. My config is: 2x SATA --> Raid 0 Stripe - contains Win XP 1x IDE --> contains MAC OSX (Where Chameleon is installed) When setting the IDE as the primary Boot Device I boot in Chameleon as wanted. When selecting MAC OSX in Chameleon he boots in OSX, everything fine... so far. The problem occurs when trying to boot up the Partition with XP on it, I select the Partition and after pressing Enter the PC halts and restarts. I used to fix this by booting with a "chain0" entry in my XP Bootloader. But now I reinstalled OSX with GPT and not MBR anymore, I guess the chain0 is not compatible with this, or could this be fixed? Thanks in advance... vilpostus
I'd suggest you installing GRUB or other bootloader. http://diddy.boot-land.net/grub4dos/files/...all_windows.htm http://sourceforge.net/projects/grub4dos/ You can boot whatever you want with it. Nagetier
Isn't it possible to fix the chameleon? Because I guess some files are injected with Chameleon which are required to boot up OSX properly, like a DSDT Patch. But I found out, that he isn't restarting anymore, he's giving me a white flashing line, like he's waiting for input... vilpostus
Grub works like that: It has some date about what disks that are installed in the system and what OS's are there. For each OS it has its own entry, within each entry it is described what bootloader must be executed to boot the selected OS. Then you select an OS to boot, grub reads the date. So if in an OS X entry the chameleon be used as the bootloader, your OS X will be booted using Chameleon. So boot process could look like that: Boot up a PC. Select OS X entry from the GRUB menu (entering hex Nr of the disk containing OS X partition may be required e.g. 81 or 82), than the Chameleon should appear, where you could select your OS X to boot. It means you could still use Chameleon as such. Another problem may be faced by you. This time with a RAID0. OS X may not recognize your RAID it is not supported by any driver that OS X has. Nagetier
Ah okay than I'd be able to use GRUB without problems, when I install GRUB on the windows raid it shouldn't be a problem to boot from the raid partition, right? //Edit: Okay now I see where the problem is, it wont let me start GRUB from the RAID, he just shows a flashing cursor. When I install GRUB on a seperate Partition on the IDE Drive and set this partition as boot it should boot GRUB up, but will GRUB recognize the RAID with Windows from there? Or is there an other bootloader which is working with RAID? vilpostus
See my specs. I boot grub from a RAID partition (Win + Linux). It can successfully boot OS X whitch resides on a different HDD. Nagetier
Okay, could you tell me how you configured it exactly? Could I add you in ICQ, would be easier to communicate I guess, if you have ICQ...
