carlosdk Posted August 22, 2009 Share Posted August 22, 2009 Hi Some info... I recently rebuild my old mac for our livingroom to fit into a nice silverstone cabinet. As I was disassembling the old one I "sort of" broke my old mbo .Anyways, I went to the local techstore and picked up a new Bad Axe 2 mbo as people here seems to think it´s a good board (the old one was a GA-P35-DS3R). I assembled the old parts and the new mbo and case and made a fresh boot-132 install to 10.5.6 and system updated it to 10.5.8. The Problem. After having installed some kexts (AppleHDA, sleepenabler and UUID) I started testing everything. Everything works perfectly except my old isight that worked perfectly before on the old setup. It shows up correct in system profiler, and even works in skype but in ichat (in preferences), photobooth, quicktime and imovie it has a framerate about 1-2 until it freezes after about 30 seconds. When I quit the app. that was showing slow framerates and try to open another app. that uses isight (even skype now) it says that the camera is in use by another app. even though every other app is closed. I figured out that maybe the onboard firewire ports on the bad axe 2 didn't play well with apple, so i plugged in the pci fireway card i used on the old setup (the GA-P35-DS3R doesn't have built in firewire) however the problem is just the same, - I even tried to disable the onboard firewire in bios, that didn't work either. To rule out that it was my isight that was the problem, I tried to plugin in my firewire soundcard from my hack in my studio, it shows up fine in system profiler but freezes as i try to enter its preferences. To conclude, I think it's a firewire issue but cannot be fully sure - maybe some "badaxe2firewirefix.kext" ? I have one that shows up in the system profiler, but will not show up in the sound preferences or Audio Midi setup. I have one that shows up in the system profiler, but will not show up in the sound preferences or Audio Midi setup. Yes it worked fine in Kalyway, but i was going for a more vanilla install this time.
