ergosteur
Hello, I have been searching the internet for a solution to this problem. After updating my ASUS P5W DH Deluxe hackintosh to 10.5.7, shutdown no longer works. All apps close, the screen goes black (in verbose mode I see CPU Halted), but the CPU and case fans and power LED stay on. It's like being back in the pre-ACPI Win95 days, when the computer had to be shut down manually using the power button. Reboot and sleep work fine, and shutdown worked in 10.5.5 and 10.5.6. I've tried OpenHaltRestart.kext to no avail, and reinstalled from a retail 10.5.4 DVD and Apple 10.5.8 ComboUpdate. I've noticed that my Dell Inspiron 640m does not exhibit this issue in 10.5.7, but my latest build, an ASUS ITX-220 board, also does not shut down. Is it possible this is an ASUS issue? I want to say it's something to do with ACPI, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the problem? And/or a possible fix? Beerkex'd
Try Netkas' new fakesmc.kext. Delete the decrypter (dsmos.kext or AppleDecrypt.kext) you're using now, before installing it. Don't forget to delete Extensions.mkext as well before rebooting. If you're using the voodoo kernel you must boot with blacklist=0 and make sure to delete AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext or use a disabler.kext. Same thing happens. Can fakesmc.kext be in /Extra/Extensions? Also for anyone trying it, it may cause "Still waiting for root device...", which i "fixed" by switching my SATA controller to "Compatible" mode. Beerkex'd
Are you using /Extra/DSDT.aml? Can fakesmc.kext be in /Extra/Extensions? Mine is in Extra/Extensions.mkext and Extra/Extensions, and it loads. I don't understand what happened with your S-ATA controller but glad you got it working. It should be in AHCI mode, and if you're using Chameleon there should be SATA/PATA kernel extensions in /extra driving it. If you don't have the SATA/PATA controller drivers that comes with Chameleon you can get them from the binary package download.
