captain wibble
hi, i;m attempting 10.5 on a dell vostro 1200 notebook (gm965, integrated x3100). using a boot-132 for the DELL520 (from Hagar's slimbuild multiboot). I have to use external monitor and the keyboard is not recognised but usb mouse is.. managed to get through to the point where osx is installing... gets to about 4 minutes remaining then computer just dies. to the point where i have to unplug it from the wall, remove the battery for a bit.. only then will it restart. any ideas as to why this might happen ? ALSO the idea of using restore function in disk utility to restore install disk to a partition, is this the same as a standard install ? then perhaps i could restore to a partition, then configure a bootloader... thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/180925-4-minutes-left-to-install-osx-then-computer-goes-dead/ Share on other sites
captain wibble
... gets to about 4 minutes remaining then computer just dies. slightly disturbing lol, it was my system fan not working... must have got too hot.. i couldn't hear that the fan wasnt working cos of the cd spinning. i tried the restore. it made a copy of the install disk to a usb drive.. then i booted off that, and after getting to less than 1 minute, then died.. realised what was happening. i got it to install by fanning it with a picture book now just got to work out the how to get the fan working.
