runchadrun
I'm about to build a box based on the Gigabyte EP45-UD3R. I bought a 1TB hard drive and my original plan was to use it for my home directory only and I would use an older 120GB drive as the boot/OS drive. That's so if the OS got hosed my data would be reasonably safe and I could pop it into a real Mac if necessary. But now I'm thinking of putting everything on the same drive, albeit in different partitions. Can anyone tell me if I'm risking my data by doing this? geiman
I don't see how you are risking your data by doing this; seeing as how drives are getting so cheap, you might as well grab another 1TB and just run time machine or another backup program. That way you have none of the hassle of splitting your system across multiple disks, and you've got a nice backup to fall back on.
