Hey all! Just wanted to say that I've been dicking around with osx86 for the past week and this forum has been amazing at answering all sorts of questions.

I started out with the Zephyroth 10.5.2 distro, which after some tinkering works great (except for a couple things not working, like DVD Burning). The main issue is that I tried over and over to update it to at LEAST 10.5.6 and had nothing but failure all over the place. Experimenting is a looong process.

So after searching I found another distro (iPC 10.5.6) that people with my Mobo had gotten working. The only problem now is that when I try to boot the installation DVD (with any variety of boot options, and Slave/master combos) it gives me a "Waiting for root" error. I'd give up and find another distro, but I read about people with nforce installing it fine, and it was a torrent that took about 4 days total to download. lol

Any ideas on how I could get this to work? I read a little about some installations not working off of IDE DVD drives, but that sounds weird. Do I really need to go buy a SATA DVD reader to install this?

my stuff is:

-AMD Athlon 64 x2 +3800

-ABIT KN8 SLI

Thanks! :D

P.S. or if anyone knows of a reliable way to update 10.5.2 Zephyroth on an AMD chip. I couldn't get ASU to work, and the iDeneb update crashes every time and leaves my computer bricked. :(
