LeicaSeeker
Hi All! - Love the site and the wiki! The 'recipe' from the wiki allowed me to have success with relative ease! Firewire card worked with zero effort, wifi usb adapter worked with ease (except for operator issues!), I am quite happy with everything so far. EXCEPT- NO AUDIO! I just want some basic sound output. Nothing fancy, simple stereo would be fine! I have a soundblaster live value card that is listed as works with kxaudiodriver- I carefully checked the list and it's chip and model number are specifically noted on the works list, but installing it has no apparent effect. I get the no output devices available message in my sound control panel. I've tried everything I can think of. I have NO freezes or kernel panics when I restart or bootup cold, various uninstalls and reinstalls haven't helped (using the provided installers and uninstallers provided on the .dmg. ) I don't have the applehda kext installed anywhere which was a noted conflict. Troubleshooting help please!!!! I have little funds available and would prefer to make the included card 'just work' even nominally. I am NOT an AUDIOPHILE - simple, clear, basic stereo output would be acceptable! An uber cheap USB alternative would be fine if I can KNOW that adapter 'x,y, or z' WILL work or SHOULD work using a 'known' troubleshooting guide/recipe with my Pentium4 based sse2 motherboard. I'm on a Dell Dimension 4550. iDeneb v1.3 - 10.5.5 P4 2.5ghz on the oem sse2 motherboard 1 gig ram - 500gig hd (via simple sata to ide adapter!) Thanks for any help. Richard Please save your flames on my audio card. No free cash & no real need for it makes dropping 40 or 50 or even 5,000,000 dollars on a different audio card all equally unworkable. SBLive may be miles from perfect, but it can be good enough to get sound and sometimes 'good enough' means what it says!
