Hi there,

Recently I ran in to a problem with my hackintosh.. I absolutely can not afford to lose my files by reinstalling any OS, so am willing to pay somebody a good amount of money if they can either fix the problem, or find a way for me to copy my files to a different computer.

If you're interested, get back to me and we can discuss pricing and talk about the problem more in-depth.

Many thanks

Bruno

okay thanks! good to see there is still some good in the world :dev:

basically i followed this topic http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=110606 because i was trying to get my laptop battery to show. now, when i try to boot it just shows the white screen with the apple logo and a loading bar underneath it.

i don't even mind reinstalling osx, it's just that i really need to be able to access the data.

if it helps, i am running iatkos on an inspiron 1720.

thanks in advance.

sounds like a kernel panic, i have one or two easy solutions

1. try booting in safe mode and see if that gets you anywhere, from there you can copy the files to an external HDD, then try fixing/repairing/reinstalling

2. if that doesn't work, boot into your installer and try verifying and repairing the disk, you could then try booting into it, although if that does by some miracle work then the changes you tried to make will have most probably gone

3. if all else fails i would get a linux live CD (your choice as to which one, i think they can all read HFS+, but you should check if you get this far) and copy all of the files from your OSx86 install like that, then wipe and reinstall OSX

if you where looking for more of a fix then you might want to try searching the net some more as i have never hit the problem before (sorry!)

If any of those do work you can then try to find another way of getting that battery meter

hope that helps! tell us all how it goes!

J.B i can't describe how grateful i am!

i simply booted -x and it showed me all my precious files :D

then i undid the changes that i made by following that tutorial, and that fixed it!

if you want to PM me your paypal account details, i'd be more than happy to reimburse you for that :dev:

as great (and maybe tempting :dev: ) as that offer is, i will decline, im just happy i could help someone, glad to hear it worked for you, your most welcome, like i said, you could now try and look for other ways to get the battery meter, i think your problem was cause when you messed with the core files, so you might try leaving out that part, but don't take my word for it! (i don't want to be held responsible for any damages or losses :D ) i recommend you now use time machine (or the disk utility, from you boot disk only though) to backup so you can modify things freely, if you need anymore help, just ask
