Nagetier
Hello everyone. I'm recently trying to install OSX to my pc. I got a seperate HDD connected with IDE to my Mobo (P7N Platinum), the installation is starting with every distro I try with the parameters 'maxmem=2048 cpus=1 -v'. I format the HDD with Mac OSX Extended Journaled. The problem occurs when I start installing it, no matter if I start installing from a DVD or from an USB Stick, the result is always the same. After 5 minutes the installer says: 'The installer could not install the files to Volumes\MACOSX' (or similar^^) I tried it with iDeneb 1.6 & iAtkos v7, everytime the same. Some people in IRC say that it might be a problem with my chipset (750i). As far as I can see the chipset is not used very often, although the wiki says, that it's possible to install MAC OSX on it (Search 750i). I really don't know what to do, so please help me... My complete system specs: Core 2 Quad Q6700 MSI P7N- Platnium 750i SLI Chipset Leadtek 8800GT (512 MB) Samsung 300Gig HDD (IDE - set to Master) 2x 250Gig HDD in RAID 0 (SATA) Windows Partition, not touched by MAC OSX... Thanks in advance, Nagetier Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/180468-installing-osx-to-a-750i/ Share on other sites

Thanks in advance, Nagetier If your DVDRW is IDE then jumper set it as Master and the IDE HDD jumper set as Slave....... Also your MOBO BIOS needs a modded DSDT BIOS.....see here.....or a patched DSDT.aml file in /Extra generated by Chameleon 2.0 bootloader.....see my Series 7 nForce thread for posts on MSI P7N- Platnium MOBO......and see post #1......Recommend you partition/format your IDE HDD into multiple volumes using MBR/HFS+....... Nagetier
Thank you! I'll try to patch my BIOS, but when I search my MOBO on OSXCores there is my MOBO, but the link isn't working :-/ Do you maybe have another source for this DSDT Patch? verdant
Again no luck, does it matter here wgich drivers I select during install? Are you saying that you cannot boot into the OS X DVD installer or what.......please elaborate. Your Customize menu choices are important in terms of the kernel, chipset and driver choices but you have to start by setting your BIOS correctly for OS X...... Nagetier
I am able to boot into the setup but when it comes to the installing the error occurs! Chcek you BIOS settings against recommended OS X settings template in post #1 here and what OS X install DVDs do you have.......I recommend iPC 10.5.6 Final Version v1.1 if you have it.......remind me is your DVDRW a SATA or PATA (IDE) drive? I have not tried iDeneb v1.6 but suggest: iDeneb Main System Chameleon v2 9.5.0 Kernel Voodoo or 9.7.0 Kernel AnV Apple Decrypt ACPI Fix AppleSMBIOS MacPro Disabler DSDT Patcher TimeMachine Fix OpenHaltRestart AboutThisMac Fix SystemProfiler Fix Seatbelt Fix (only required for Voodoo kernel AFAIK) AppleNForceATA Cleanup If you are using PS/2 you need to choose appropriate drivers, plus your Language Translation if required...... Sorry that you have not been able to get past the error...... Not your fault I just tried installing it from an ipod on which I "burned" the .iso, but the result remains the same... I also tried to install the System to a partition at the end of the HDD... no luck. Aren't there any other possibilites to fix the problem? //Tomorrow I'll try to change the cable of the HDD, atm the HDD has its own cable to the motherboard but only 40-IDE, could this be a problem? Yes......see my Series 7 nForce thread post #1 in the section on IDE connections! Since your MOBO has 2 IDE slots, connect DVDRW on Channel 0 as a Master and HDD on Channel 1 as Master or on one channel with DVDRW as Master and HDD as Slave but use 80-wire cable in either case.... Nagetier
Well, what shoul I say... It worked! Must have been, that i connected the hdd to a 80-IDE cable! Now I'll need to set up my "Mac" thank you! How do I access Chameleon now? Should the mac hdd booted earlier than the xp stripe? Edit: No the problem is when it comes to booting, I select my Leo Drive in Chameleon but than he hangs on "Mac Framework successfully initialized...(something with buffers loaded follows)" Can't get beyond this point. You mean 40-wire IDE cable. Nagetier
Doesn't change anything for me... It keeps on hanging at the same spot, no visible change! I hope this is solvable too, after all I made to getting it installed Is there a driver or a fix I might have to inject somehow? Possibly.......some have also removed (but backed up) or renamed Firewire kexts (see here), as well as doing what it says in my thread: HELP FOR THOSE EXPERIENCING ACPI-APIC and/or BIOS PROBLEMS (e.g. always needing to use the cpus=1 boot flag) If your System Hangs after Boot Screen Message: "Mac framework successfully initialized Using XXXX buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers" where XXXX may be 16384, 14805, 10485, 5242 typically...... XXXX Number Explanation: 16384 is reported to indicate ≥ 4GB RAM 14805 is reported to indicate 2GB RAM The Error Cause may be: ACPIPlatform.kext and/or AppleAPIC.kext and/or IOACPIFamily.kext The Error Solution may be: Replace ACPIPlatform.kext and/or AppleAPIC.kext and/or IOACPIFamily.kext with compatible version(s); generally found in older distros...or as an "ACPI Fix" or "ACPI-APIC Old" or similar in recent distros..... HOWEVER, if different versions of these kexts do not resolve the error, then you may need a modified-DSDT BIOS; this is because the DSDT is a part of the ACPI subsystem. ACPI is the acronym for Advanced Configuration & Power Interface. The ACPI interface has been around since 1999 and used on the majority of i386 and x86_64 systems since then. ACPI is an abstraction level that is interfaced between the OS and the platform firmware and hardware. This abstraction layer's, i.e. ACPI's purpose is to hide differences in the platform firmware and/or hardware from most of the operating system kernel codebase, in order that most of the kernel codebase does not have to be changed for the OS to run on systems with different hardware and/or firmware. Thus, OS and the platform can evolve independently so that a new OS should be able to run on old hardware, while an older OS should be able to run on new hardware. DSDT is an acronym for Differentiated System Description Table. The DSDT contains the Differentiated Definition Block, which supplies the information and configuration information about the base system. It is always incorporated in the ACPI Namespace by the OS at bootup. However, it is sad fact that a number of MOBO manufacturers do not seem able to provide fully functional DSDTs as part of their MOBOs' BIOS. For example, MSI MOBOs often need a DSDT string-modded BIOS.....read this thread.....and see here......Kabyl may be able to help you.....BUT also see OriginalMACNUT's OSXCORES......e.g. MSI P7N nForce 750i SLI Platinum......also see fassl's DSDT Patcher.......using mackerintel's Chameleon with DSDT Override bootloader......as well as koalala's ACPI (DSDT) Patcher for BIOS and AML, CPU Cores, HPET, RTC, TM, GFX..... which solved the problem for them....but with your MOBO a modded BIOS is most likely necessary...... Nagetier
Got it working now, installed the DSDT patch from iAtkos v7 - working! Graphics are working, so does sound. Only two issues remaining: 1.When moving windows or scrolling i get strange white stripes sometimes, like lagging windows. 2. Ethernet problems, seems like the Ethernet is not working properly, is there a fix aviable? I'm able to select Ethernet under Preferences --> Network, but it seems like it can't connect to my router properly. (I guess I need the nForceLAN.ktext you linked in your thread, but how do I install a ktext?)
