Post your best speed tweaks!

*note to the moderator* I was debating what forum to put this under, so if i've posted it under the wrong one you can switch it.

 

 

I thought it would be nice to have a compilation of the best speek tweaks for osx86, things that you have found generally increase the overall performance/user experience of your system (or even just of a specific part). These can be hardware related (does someone know some good general bios settings to have/avoid?), software related, or core system components related (kext/.plist file tweaks etc.).

 

You can just post what the tweaks are or you can accompany them with a tutorial (the more tuturials the better). If there is another forum that you think has good spead tweak information you can post a link to that as well. Also, please post your individual results/experiences with the changes as some systems may not be equally effected by your particular tweak.

 

As there have already been a number of threads regarding Beam Sync and Quartz 2d extreme I don't think its necessary to post tutorials regarding those two subjects.

 

If we can compile enough good speed tweaks can we get this topic sticky'd to provide a good resource for those who have gotten there systems running and would like to get the most performance possible out of them?

 

 

 

To start:

 

I have only done a few minor tweaks to my system as of this moment (although I hope to learn of more). The tweaks that I have implimented on my system include the afore mentioned beam sync (disabled - this was a great tweak, the gui feels much faster) and quartz 2d extreme (which I enabled and then disabled due to the fact that it slowed my system down rather than speed it up),and an edited ati9700.kext to provide support for my radeon 9700 pro (which is working wonderfully at 1280x1024@60 from its VGA output - dvi only outputs 1024x768).
