I have Mac OSX installed on my laptop and I'm havin trouble find drivers for it can somebody help me

Hi MT,

 

For your Ethernet you can try using the Realtek R1000 driver from Sourgeforge > http://sourceforge.net/projects/realtekr1000/. Unzip the files and run the install package within it. This should sort out your Ethernet.

 

As for your ICH9 issues the driver you can use is LSL's guide here > http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86167 as his setup is ICH9 based. You need to download his v.4.4 package and just pick out the IOATAFamily.kext file to install within your 10.5 setup.

 

If the above install fails I would suggest either:

 

a) Copy and paste the R1000.kext driver into /System/Library/Extensions and then chmod & chown the file before rebooting and see if that still works

 

B) Making your own Boot 132 disk with your relevant kexts (ones that worked, including LSL's IOATAFamily kext & R1000 kext), or

 

c) Using LSL's method, after updating the install drive to 10.5.6 via another machine, edit his post-patch.sh file and add your own kexts & settings (including YOUR video drivers - he has an ATI setup installed, which if you use NVidia must be removed) for this at the preboot patch point. This would definitely ensure your system works up to scratch.

 

I would also suggest making a note of your BIOS settings, and arranging your DVD cables so that the DVD drive is on Cable Select but under a primary socket, and your HD also on Cable Select but on the secondary one. This would make it easier for the OS to detect your setup.

 

 

I installed 10.5.6 into one of my Asus machines (P5-VD2-VM with Nvidia 9800GT) using LSL's v.4.4 method above. Booting with the Dell Inspiron XPS Boot 132 CD from here > http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...aded&start= and starting up with -v -f cpus=1 and -v -x cpus=1, I so far got good results with this setup. My gfx goes up to 1600 x 1200 res and I even see my Ethernet card which is similar to your one. :thumbsup_anim:

I am surprised! Usually newbies to Macs I would think are quite scared to be playing around with the internal codes of a machine, much less play around with the machine or interface. :)

 

 

 

 

I am guessing you are using OSX86 tools to get the above information? One word of warning.....if your machine is currently working I would suggest you not mess around with any internal kexts or files, as it may screw up your setup, especially if your drive is working. If your drives were NOT working, you wouldn't have gotten that far (to use the info-check facility of OSX86 tools).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But if you know what you are doing....download the zip file on the page (press the green button), right-click your mouse and Save As/Download File As onto your desktop. If you are using Mac OSX (which I assume you are :) ) double-click it and it should come up as a mounted white drive.

 

 

 

 

Double click on the main package inside it, either a colourful installer icon or yellow box ending in .PKG and run through the menus (Next, Install etc). You should have it installed onto your main OSX86 drive.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For your Intel related queries, unfortunately you may have to read up on how to edit  them (search for this on the Insanelymac site). It looks like you need an updated IOATAFamily.kext which is a package that will contain the right parameters, and copy this into your /System/Library/Extensions folder.

 

 

 

 

There is one you can try > LSL's v4.4 zip download > http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86167, which contains this edited driver within its KEXT folder.

 

 

 

 

Simply copy the kext by opening up the /Systems/Library/Extensions folder on your OSX86 drive, and drag it in. Then using Terminal (found under Applications > Utilities) type:

 

 

 

 

sudo su

 

 

 

 

(then press Enter and type in your password when it asks you)

 

 

 

 

cd /System/Library/Extensions

 

sudo chown -R root:wheel IOATAFamily.kext

 

sudo chmod -R 755 IOATAFamily.kext

 

sudo kextload IOATAFamily.kext

 

sudo diskutil repairpermissions /

 

sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

 

sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

 

reboot

 

 

 

 

This should allow your system to boot with the new set of updated ICH9 drivers (presumably for SATA). As for the Intel HD sound, I think you need to find this out yourself. I don't have an answer for this other than you try booting up with the Dell Boot 132 iso disk as it contains HDAEnabler.kext which should start up your HD audio.

 

 

 

 

(What I have given you above is what I think needs to be done, any changes made is at your own risk)

Theirs the problem I can't download the realtek driver from that site. For some reason every time I try to download it, it keeps saying network timeout. So if you could, could you please leave an attachment with the realtek r1000 download??? ;)

I'm sorry but I can't....forum (and copyright) rules prevent me from doing so.

If you can't download that file you won't be able to get these either.

I suggest you just change your browser or check your network card.
