SirBilly
Hello everyone and welcome to my first post. I am new to using OSx86 and I am very excited to try it out. The only problem is, my laptop seems very unwilling to help me do it. I have a Toshiba Satellite model L305D-S5900 laptop. I have tried every distribution of OSx86 that I could find available for download and all of them seem to have the same problem. Whenever I try to boot to the cd the installation will proceed up to the point of the picture I have included and then it will stop and the disc drive will stop spinning. Please, if anyone knows what to do, help me out Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/180214-can-someone-please-help-me/ Share on other sites

scryer_360
Does anyone have some advice? I've been trying to figure it out by use of Google but no luck so far The rules around here are pretty much "figure it out yourself" anymore it seems. After reading the posts of several "old guard" members, my guess is the old guard didn't quite like the success they got after finding (what they viewed as) the "easy route" of using bootloaders with linux kernels to start an EFI environment. To many noobs they would say... Good luck man. I too am running into trouble, so far my biggest challenge has been to just get the retail disc to boot of all things. Im on a Gigabyte P965, with my hdd connected to the JMicron controller, and while the board isn't in the HCL very, very similar boards are. Different .iso files don't work so I'm going to have to modify some kexts it looks like. Back to reading.
