Skyper
unplug everything else that you might have plugged into your USB ports and just leave the mouse and the keyboard in . peach-os
had the same issue with my acer travelmate using ipc 10.5.6. . if skyper´s tip doesn´t help: 1.try flag cpus=1 2.if number one didn´t work, take your HDD out of the notebook and connect it to an other os x system and install from there (that was my solution) 3.if after installation you still have to boot with cpu=1 flag, write following to your com.apple.boot.plist to get rid of <key>USBBusfix</key> <string>Yes</string> If you don´t have an other system: it will pretty sure boot with kaly 10.5.2 and cpus=1 And last but not least: post the complete specs for more help! KSwoosh
ok, thanks for the replies so far: @Skyper: I tried plugging out my USB mouse, but then the only difference is that it doesnt display the final line and starts hanging from there... BTW: Besides my USB mouse i didnt have anything else plugged in... @peach-os: the cpus=1 flag didnt work [tried it before, but tried it again ] and indeed, i dont have another OS X system but if i install Kaly 10.5.2 [also iPC right?] can i still update it to 10.5.6 right? [btw: where can i find 10.5.2?] Like you asked, here are my specs, if you need more info, let me know: CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T6400 @2GHz Chipset: Intel ID2A40 rev.07 Southbridge: Intel ID2919 Memory: Samsung 4GB DDR2-5300 [333 MHz] {Dual Channel} GPU: nVIdia Geforce 9600M GT Storage: Two 500GB Disks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179848-problem-installing-on-acer-aspire-7730g/#findComment-1226615 Share on other sites

KSwoosh
i got it installed, and it will boot [i added it to the vista bootloader with easybcd] but it keeps looping the welcome intro, after choosing NO to import settings from a previous mac also, the sound isnt working any ideas? peach-os
as less as possible - select only the chipset drivers. straight after installing the kaly 10.5.2, install the leo graphics update http://support.apple.com/downloads/Leopard...hics_Update_1_0 update step by step - don´t use combo updates. that way you will see where a problem appears - and it´s much easier to find a solution. the setup loop is caused by the missing lan driver. boot with -s . as soon the booting stops write /sbin/fsck -fy /sbin/mount -uw / touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone passwd root type any passwd if this doesn´t work (it should) you have to install the lan driver. peach-os
search for a driver broadcom 5764 http://www.google.com/cse?cx=0094865532699...4&sa=Search otherwise maybe you have any options in bios to disable onboard lan Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179848-problem-installing-on-acer-aspire-7730g/#findComment-1226970 Share on other sites
KSwoosh
well, i had a look, and i cant disable the onboard lan via the bios [damnit] but, i managed to get past the welcome screen [using the commands you gave me, but skipping the last line "passwd root"] but i cant login, since there is no account [is there?] so how am i supposed to use the drivers for the lan? EDIT: i found this: could that work? http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=114605 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179848-problem-installing-on-acer-aspire-7730g/#findComment-1226985 Share on other sites
peach-os
I´m not at my own computer - maybe I did a mistake.... try: /sbin/fsck -fy /sbin/mount -uw / passwd root type any passwd touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone About the kext - could work. Try first to install your system and do a backup. KSwoosh
well, as i was telling you before, it very often hangs when i try to enter the passwd command, making it very hard to enter the command i already entered the rest, which is good but currently i have this: it boots [sometimes it hangs and i gotta reboot], i get the login screen, but since there are no user accounts [not that i know of] i cant login... and not to forget it keeps hanging often... making it hard to boot please understand i have no clue what to do here since i am not familiar with mac os x, at all Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179848-problem-installing-on-acer-aspire-7730g/#findComment-1227343 Share on other sites

peach-os
wow........ that is a huge workstation best would be to start from scratch. I added a few pics of the probably best settings for your system. try to solve further problems with the searchengine. at the moment I had a bit spare time to help you with that many harddrives I would use one partition to install kaly(10GB).later on to install the ipc or vanilla from within the kaly to an other partition and leave the kaly as maintenance install. also I would use the latest chameleon for the multiboot setup. settings.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179848-problem-installing-on-acer-aspire-7730g/#findComment-1227564 Share on other sites

peach-os
no - you have to try the setup done trick or install a lan driver. if you can´t enter the password, you did probably something wrong. sorry.....doing things to quick I didn´t see it added a new screenshot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179848-problem-installing-on-acer-aspire-7730g/#findComment-1227850 Share on other sites

peach-os
open your ipc disk. go to folder system>install>installation>packages>OSX86Patches. there you will find everything you need 1.PS2Keyboardfix 2. try the different versions of ALC888for sound. backup your AppleHDA.kext before 3. the lan will probably work only with a patched kext for broadcom with an installed PCMCIAFamily.kext(Leopard version!) from Chun Nan. search for it - you will find it easily. use kexthelper to install your kexts Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179848-problem-installing-on-acer-aspire-7730g/#findComment-1229172 Share on other sites
