Scorpio123
Hey there guys! I've been trying to give my good ol' HP dv1000 a revamp, and decided to install the 10.5.6 iPC DVD, along with the Voodoo Kernel. Everything seems to be working great considering its an SSE2-only Pentium M processing laptop, but everything seems to be working great EXCEPT for the wireless. It has an Intel PRO Wireless 2200 b/g, which does have a lot a buzz from the devs on here (iwidarwin and VoodooWireless) and while the job they're both doing is commendable, the drivers don't seem to be working too great for me.. The laptop is supposed to be able to house a Broadcom wireless chip, which I do believe has great OS X support as of now, but I wasn't sure which one were to work with my laptop.. The two chips i've seen are the Broadcom 4306 and the Broadcom 94318MPG. I believe the first one has far better support, but I wasn't sure if it were to fit in my HP dv1000. Does anybody know if it does? Thanks for any help! On a sidenote, I always wanted to clarify this.. I have the Voodoo kernel installed, would this allow me to use software update to update to say 10.5.8? Ball G
Scorpio, I also have a dv1000, with retail install running Voodoo kernel. I got tired waiting for a 2200bg driver, so i put a linksys wpc54gs pcmcia card in it (i believe it has bcm4318). OSX detected it right away after i installed the kext for PC card. btw, I did the software update form 10.5.6 to 10.5.7, worked for me, but can't say for your situation.
