Arcum
Owkey; first things first... I've read countless "tutorials" and I've searched these forums for spec-like pcs, none of them we're any help... So plz... My specs; CPU: AMD Athlon X2 Dualcore Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M55S-S3 With; nVidia NF550 - 4GB Ram (Corsair) Video: nVidia 8800 GTX HD: IDE HD 80Gb (Connected) SATA 1TB + SATA 750Mb + SATA 750Mb (all disconnected atm - for installation purposes) DVD-drives; Sata DVDdrive (disconnected, as it doesn't work for install) + IDE DVDdrive (do you need more info?) I've got myself various Distro's and so far not one of them has made it to the finish... * Kalyway 10.5.2 * iAtkos v7 10.5.7 * iDeneb v1.5.1 10.5.7 * getting iPC while writing this... Kalyway's the one that got me to the finish once, but froze at startup - but then I think I've done something wrong... So I've got various questions: * First of all, does my hardware supports OS X; I think it does, though I'm not sure... * I can't change my AHCI in my Bios, is this the problem to this all? * What's the difference between "the AMD patch" and selecting another Kernel to install?... * Do I have to select drivers for eg my chipset or does it manually select the best drivers possible? * When an install crashes on me, I reset my pc and the first thing I do is Erase/Create the partition again, so no old files get stocked on it... Is it good - yes or no? And when I create my partition I make it "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" or is that wrong? I'm trying out different settings over & over again... I know it's all a process of trial and error but if there's anyone out there with a little more info on my specs I would be mighty gratefull... I get various errors with all those non-Kalyway distro's... will post them next time... Right now I'm trying to install Kalyway 10.5.2 again... Hopefully - fingers crossed... (and sorry to say this but I'm on vacation this weekend, so I won't be replying till next monday, my sincere apologies - but please spill your thoughts on this on) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179696-as-so-many-before-ive-got-problems-installing-os-x/ Share on other sites
Arcum
Alrighty!!! That Kalyway install worked!! for the first time ever!!... Nice... Only problem right now is I think I forgot to check on my driver for my Lan... Anyway, is it any good to download that upgrade to 10.5.6? and I think you can upgrade from .2 to .6 directly or not... (I'll check it tomorrow) Cheers mates!...
