Lambros
Hey everyone! So here's my easy guide to DSDT patching... I use the following...so you should get them. If you know another way please post: Either mac running virutally through windows, or simply a mac A Mac distro A bootable USB -> that's what I used, not sure if you can use a DVD (most USBs are bootable). The REAL bios for your computer The programs I list as I go Ok, so you’re going to need your bios files....if I linked you to this post chances are you are using an MSI bios. Here's the one I used... http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=download...mp;prod_no=1590 So, get the newest bios version, and make sure your computer has it installed too. Next, you need to get fassl's patcher from here... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=133683 Thank him for that release, not me Then, get the bootloader of your choice. Different ones work for different motherboards. I used chameleon v2... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=159885&hl= Finally, get the mac distro onto a USB or DVD (in compressed format). Now that you have all the necessary software, it's time to get it working! Using the DSDT patcher, first make a modded bios by inputting the REAL bios file. Be sure to choose the appropriate settings from the side pane. Then, using the DSDT patcher, browse the new modded bios. Choose the settings you need and create a DSDT.aml file. Rename it to DSDT.aml if it isn’t already. Ok, now place the DSDT.aml onto a DVD/USB along with the compressed distro and the bootloader. Time to switch to your mac or virtual machine. Open the DVD/USB and copy all files to your desktop. Then go to disk utility and select your USB, format it to mac journaled and make a single partition on it (dont think the partition part is necessary, but i do it anyway). Then go to the restore section. Now, as the source, place your compressed file (mount it first-by double clicking on it). Place the USB into the destination area. Ensure that “Erase Destination” is not ticked, then click the “Restore” button to begin the process. When done, it is time to install a bootloader. If you have a DVD, then I don’t know how to do this, but if you have the chameleon installer above you can just run it and use the USB as the destination. Once done, place DSDT.aml into the “Extra” folder of the USB (which was created by chameleon). Finally, restart your computer with the USB in the port. Hold the button to select boot options (commonly Esc, F2, F11 or F12). Then, select USB from the list of options (alternatively you can just make it no.1 in the boot order in your bios). Type –v and boot into the USB. If all works, good job! If it didn’t post below what your problem was, and I’ll try to help. Good luck! (I know it is a long, frustrating process). mafiasilk
I've done this, but how do I check to see if its reading the DSDT.aml file? Its in the right location and everything boots ok. Beerkex'd
Extract your DSDT while OS X is running and compare it to your patched DSDT.
