te-x
Hi, I've tried today, for the first time, to install iAtkos. The installation wen't fine but one the first boot, a stop sign appears over the apple logo and it doesn't advande. The computer I used: Intel C2D E6750 @default Asus P5K-e wifi GeForce 8800GT 256mb XFX IDE WD 320gb 2Gb OCZ I installed it this way: Burn the iAtkos Boot from the DVD (without any changes, just pressed Enter) I had a 20gb FAT32 fartition, erased it changed it to Mac Os Extended (journaled) (or something similar, but I know it was journaled). Installed Chameleon2 Select the correct partition and installed it. On the first boot the chameleon appeared with the Vista, the OSX and a Data partition. Selected OSX and the grey screen with the apple appears, shortly after the stop sign appears. I tried booting with -v (I think it's verbose mode) and after somo firewire error, it gets stuck and showing "Still waiting for root device". hereAs you can see here I've deactivated firewire on the BIOS, the error changed but still appears the "Still waiting for root device" error. Is there a solution for this? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179572-iatkos-7-stop-sign-on-boot/ Share on other sites
Beerkex'd
Is there a solution for this? LOL, no I don't think we've seen that one before.. Type "Waiting For Root Device" in the search box, there should be uh, only around around two billion hits for it. If search doesn't return any results go to google.com and set your language preferences to English. The problem is that OSX can't see the controller that your hard drive is attached to, either because of wrong settings in the BIOS or because you didn't install a driver for it. Steps to fix: 1: Find out what controller it is (look in motherboard manual, type your motherboard model in the search box, if you have Windows installed look in the Device Manager) 2: Reboot with the install DVD, deselect everything, select only the drivers for the controller. Do you have any ideia how to solve this? I've tried 3 different solutions for the problem and none of them worked. Burts
I had the same stop sign. I changed the hard disk settings in my bios from SATA to AHCI, and it works fine now... vilpostus
Hi! I guess your problem is the AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext. As far as I understand you've got installed system. So may acess it somehow. See this post for modified version of the AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext. Download it with Vista. Copy it to an USB flash drive (to it's root, just to find it easily). Boot in to iAtkos DVD. Then select Terminal from Utilities menu and type in this: rm -Rf /Volumes/MacHDD/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext hit enter, then cp -R /Volumes/yourUSBflashName/AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext /Volumes/MacHDD/System/Library/Extensions hit enter, than chmod -R 644 /Volumes/MacHDD/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext hit enter, than chown -R root:wheel /Volumes/MacHDD/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext hit enter. Now start Diskutility and hit Repair disk permissions button (with your disk selected). Reboot than done, just type in reboot in Terminal. If you did everything right, the system should now boot. Boot with -v boot flag (F8 > -v > Enter) to see if everything is OK. Some must read info: important items are as folows MacHDD=name of the disk you've installed OS X to (type in Terminal diskutil list this will list all the disk in your PC together with their names), yourUSBflashName=name of your flash drive (see above to find it out). Hope this will help you Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179572-iatkos-7-stop-sign-on-boot/#findComment-1226511 Share on other sites
te-x
thanks for the answers. I just needed to select the right drivers. It's working very well. Dual screen, correct resolutions, internet, sound. I've just one problem. I've added my folder of music to the itunes library and I think it started copying the files from the partition where I had the music to the osX partition. Now i've deleted those files. Isn't there a way to add the files to the library and have them on another partition? Das_Human, thanks for the long post, but It wasn't needed Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179572-iatkos-7-stop-sign-on-boot/#findComment-1226530 Share on other sites

te-x
About dual booting the OSX and Windows 7, do I need to install windows 7 first and then mac OSX? I already have OSX working, but I haven't installed windows yet. EDIT: On the tutorial I've been reading they talk about installing the darwin boot but my cd doesn't have it. If I install chameleon will the the tutorial work?
